Today is the day the site moves onto its new server. 

DAREBEE has been running on the same machine for a very long time, and we have moved everything onto hardware with twice the processor cores, twice the memory, and solid state storage in place of the older drives. Same hosting company, same people, much better computer.

You should notice pages loading faster, filters and search responding instantly, and images appearing without the wait. That is the whole change. Nothing else about the site is different.

The site stays up. It is not going down today, and it is not going down at all. This is an upgrade, not an outage.

What is happening right now

Saturday, August 15, 4:00 AM EDT - Sunday, August 16, 4:00 AM EDT everything moves across. After that, visitors gradually start arriving at the new server instead of the old one. This does not happen for everyone at once. Depending on where you are in the world, it might take a few minutes or most of a day.

Both machines are up and both are showing you DAREBEE, so you will not be able to tell which one you are on. Which brings us to the one thing worth knowing.

Your tracking and bookmarks are completely safe

Your dashboard tracking and your bookmarks are all stored in your own browser, on your own device. They have never been on our server and they are not affected by any of this. Keep logging workouts today exactly as normal. Nothing is at risk. Note: the only thing that may be lost is the count on how many people did X workout, X challenge or X program - but only in the next 24 hours and only the count itself - not in your dashboard or tracking. 

For the next 24 hours, please hold off on these

The only things affected are the ones that send something to us. While some people are on the old server and some are on the new one, anything sent to the old one after the handover does not travel with us. So for one day:

• Posting on the forum. There is a full explanation over there.
• Leaving a review.
• Bug reports and any other forms. Save them for tomorrow, we will not see them today.

Everything else is fine. Browse, read, train, track. The site works normally throughout, and by tomorrow so does everything on that list.

If something looks odd

Try a hard refresh first: Ctrl and F5 on Windows, Cmd and Shift and R on Mac. Browsers like to hold onto half of an old page and mix it with half of a new one during a move, which produces some creative results that clear up straight away.

You might also see a brief security certificate warning at some point. Normal part of the process, sorts itself out shortly after.

And if anything does break, please do not panic. We are watching the site closely all day and anything that turns up gets fixed fast. Fifteen years in, DAREBEE is not going anywhere, and it is staying exactly as free and exactly as ad-free as it has always been.
