Day 15 pairs two movements with two holds, and the holds get the harder half of the deal. The circuit is high crunches, a high crunch hold, knee-in and twist, and a sit-up hold - 30 seconds each, straight through. Two of the four are positions where nothing happens except time passing.
The card is built around what happens after the movement stops. High crunches curl the shoulders up toward vertical legs, and the hold immediately afterwards parks you at the top of that curl with the legs still up - fatigued muscle, asked to stay contracted, with nothing to distract it. Knee-in and twist then sits you up, leaning back on your hands and drawing the knees toward the chest with a rotation as they come, working the obliques from a seated base. The sit-up hold closes the circuit halfway up from the floor: knees bent, torso leaned back at an angle, held there for the full 30 seconds. It is the top half of an exercise the program never actually asks you to complete, and holding it is harder than finishing it would be.
During the high crunch hold, keep the legs vertical and the shoulder blades clear of the ground; if the legs start drifting toward your face, you are resting. In knee-in and twist, keep your chest lifted and turn as the knees arrive rather than after. In the sit-up hold, find the angle where your abs are working but your lower back is not straining - roughly halfway - and breathe steadily instead of clenching.
Two holds, two movements, and the abs never once get to switch off.
Make it Harder: Lean further back in the sit-up hold, closer to the floor without touching it - every few degrees costs real effort.
Make it Easier: Sit more upright in the sit-up hold and rest your hands lightly on your thighs.
