Day 22 completes the balance-hold set of days. The circuit is 12 side jacks, a 10-count balance hold standing on the left leg, 12 more side jacks, then a 10-count balance hold standing on the right leg - 2 minutes of rest, then repeat for your level. Days 4 and 16 paired the hold with step jacks and marching; today it is side jacks, the lean-and-reach.
Side jacks: wide stance, one hand on the hip, the other arm reaching up and over as you lean, then switch, 12 in total. The balance hold: standing on one leg, the other foot lifted behind toward the glute, arms straight out to the sides in a T, counting to 10 - first on the left foot, then on the right. Coming into a hold from a wide, leaning stance is its own small challenge: the feet have to come together and the trunk has to settle before the count begins.
Reach long on the side jacks and keep the lean above the waist. In the hold, take a breath to settle before you start counting - a hold that begins wobbling stays wobbling. Standing knee soft, arms level, eyes on a fixed point. By now the holds should need less wall than they did on Day 4; if they still need some, that is fine.
Three balance-hold days, three cardio partners, the same ten counts of stillness at the heart of each.
Make it Harder: Extend both holds to a count of 15.
Make it Easier: Rest fingertips on a wall for the holds and do 8 side jacks per block.
