DAREBEE Workout: What it Works
Focus: Fullbody
Type: Metcon
Difficulty: level 3 of 5

Keeper is a lower body and striking workout built on the goalkeeper's job description: explode out of a lunge, get tall, reset, do it again, and keep your hands dangerous the entire time. Lunge step-ups dominate the session - five blocks of them - with side-to-side lunges and two rounds of twenty punches worked in between.

The lunge step-up is the signature movement, and it earns its five appearances. From a deep lunge, you drive straight up into a standing knee raise - a single rep that contains a strength phase and an explosive phase welded together, the exact pattern of a keeper springing from a set position to claim a high ball. The side-to-side lunges shift the work laterally, loading the inner thighs and teaching your hips to move across the goalmouth rather than just forward. The punch blocks keep your upper body busy and your heart rate honest between leg efforts, because a keeper's arms are never off duty. Nothing here builds size for its own sake - everything builds spring.

Drive the step-up knee high and with intent, using the lunge as a loaded spring rather than standing up casually. Keep your balance through the top of the movement before stepping back - wobbling through it means you are rushing. Shift your weight fully from side to side in the lateral lunges, keeping the trailing leg long. Snap the punches out and back with your guard up.

The shot always comes. Keepers do not get to be tired. Reset and go again.

Make it Harder: Add a hop at the top of every lunge step-up.

Make it Easier: Perform the step-ups without the knee drive, stepping to a simple stand.

I appreciate the flexibility of levels and types of workouts and the amazing amount of content being offered for free. The amount and variety of content is overwhelming to start but the filters really help narrow everything down. And if I still can't make a decision, the monthly challenges and daily movements are a great start. One of my favorite features is the video exercise library. When I'm not sure how to do a movement or exercise correctly, it's easy to find and watch a quick tutorial. (The dashboard and ability to create sorted bookmarks of favorite workouts are also very helpful)

I have always wanted to find a place that would meet me at my level wherever I am, encourage me to stay motivated, fit in my busy schedule, not require a gym membership, offer variety, be fun, help me feel like part of a team without leaving my house, and still be affordable. That has been my dream. So Darebee.com makes my dream a reality. It does all that and more. I would highly, highly recommend this site to absolutely anyone.

BUT what I think is at least as great is the design and functionality of the website. It is just so clean and well organized. I love the filter functions, they work very well and you can find exactly what you need in seconds. Also the bookmark feature is just awesome! The way you can organize the bookmarks, create different collections and sort them so efficiently is very thoughtful and way better than I have seen it on many bigger platforms. I think it is just an example where one can see that the Darebee team not only strives to create the best workouts but for excellence on every level. Tank you! You are doing an awesome job!
