



Overclocked is a cardio circuit that takes your legs' factory settings and pushes the clock speed: 10 butt kicks, 10 high knees, 10 more butt kicks, 10 pacer steps, 10 high knees, 10 more pacer steps and a final 10 high knees. Seven stations, three drills, zero moments where your feet stop cycling.
Overclocking a processor means running the same hardware faster than specified, and this circuit does exactly that with running mechanics. All three drills are components of a stride, isolated and accelerated: butt kicks cycle the heel recovery, high knees drive the lift phase, and pacer steps - quick, low steps from a ready stance - train pure foot turnover with minimal amplitude. The circuit swaps between them so the pattern keeps changing while the frequency never drops, which is the real training target: not how high or far each rep travels, but how fast your nervous system can fire the switch between ground contacts. High knees appear three times, including the final station, because they are the most demanding cycle in the set and the truest measure of whether your tempo survived the whole board. Heat management, as any overclocker knows, is the difference between speed and a crash.
Stay on the balls of your feet with quick, light contacts across all three drills - the ground is a hot chip, touch it briefly. Kick heels up briskly and tall in butt kicks, no forward lean. Drive knees to hip height in high knees with sharp opposite-arm action. Keep pacer steps low, fast and rhythmic from a slightly bent ready stance. If form starts glitching, cool the tempo one notch rather than crashing the set.
Same hardware, higher clock speed. That is the entire upgrade - and it is all in the turnover.
Make it Harder: Sprint the final high knees station at maximum turnover for 20 instead of 10.
Make it Easier: March the high knees and slow every drill to a steady, even rhythm.
