Who Approved This? uses three exercises - plank jacks, burpees, and jump squats - and repeats them across the set with burpees appearing between every other pairing to keep the intensity high. Plank jacks train the core and shoulders while adding a cardio element by jumping the legs out and in from a plank position. Jump squats develop leg and glute strength and train the body to produce explosive force on every rep. Burpees are the connecting thread throughout the workout - they require the whole body to move from standing to floor and back again, making them one of the most demanding exercises in any session. The "3+" system gives each exercise a starting number that is meant to grow: begin at 3, then push toward 4, then 5, adding reps as fitness improves.
What makes this workout work is the combination of ground-based and explosive movements repeating under fatigue. Every time burpees appear in the sequence, the body has already been working - which means each set of burpees is harder than it looks on paper. The progressive rep system is built into the design: the workout does not get harder by adding sets, it gets harder because the person doing it gets stronger and starts doing more. That shift from surviving the minimum to exceeding it is exactly the point.
Three is just where it starts.
