DAREBEE Workout: What it Works
Focus: Cardio
Type: Burn
Difficulty: level 3 of 5

Power Burner is a cardio workout with a two-exercise vocabulary and a lot to say with it. Ten jumping jacks, two calf raises, repeated five times per set - fifty jacks and ten raises in total before you rest. The structure could not be simpler. The accumulation is where it stops being simple.

The pairing works because the two exercises are unfair to the same muscles in different ways. Jumping jacks are a plyometric - every landing and rebound runs through your calves, which absorb and return force dozens of times per block. The two calf raises that follow look like a break but are actually a tax: a slow, deliberate contraction demanded from the exact muscles the jacks just fatigued. Then the jacks return before recovery arrives. Repeated five times, this cycle produces a deep lower-leg burn and an honest cardio effect that a straight set of fifty jacks would never generate, because the pattern keeps interrupting your rhythm right when your body settles into one.

Stay on the balls of your feet throughout the jacks - landing flat-footed kills the elastic rebound that makes them work. Keep the pace brisk and the arms full: hands touching overhead, not waving vaguely upward. Perform the calf raises slowly through a complete range, all the way up and all the way down, precisely because your calves would rather you rushed them.

Ten and two, five times over. Small numbers, tall flames.

Make it Harder: Turn every pair of calf raises into five without slowing the jacks.

Make it Easier: Step the jacks out side to side, keeping the arm swing full.

I appreciate the flexibility of levels and types of workouts and the amazing amount of content being offered for free. The amount and variety of content is overwhelming to start but the filters really help narrow everything down. And if I still can't make a decision, the monthly challenges and daily movements are a great start. One of my favorite features is the video exercise library. When I'm not sure how to do a movement or exercise correctly, it's easy to find and watch a quick tutorial. (The dashboard and ability to create sorted bookmarks of favorite workouts are also very helpful)

I have always wanted to find a place that would meet me at my level wherever I am, encourage me to stay motivated, fit in my busy schedule, not require a gym membership, offer variety, be fun, help me feel like part of a team without leaving my house, and still be affordable. That has been my dream. So Darebee.com makes my dream a reality. It does all that and more. I would highly, highly recommend this site to absolutely anyone.

Yes, the workouts are awesome and I like them very much. They are easy to understand and don't require much knowledge so you can simply start working out. BUT what I think is at least as great is the design and functionality of the website. It is just so clean and well organized. I love the filter functions, they work very well and you can find exactly what you need in seconds. Also the bookmark feature is just awesome! The way you can organize the bookmarks, create different collections and sort them so efficiently is very thoughtful and way better than I have seen it on many bigger platforms. I think it is just an example where one can see that the Darebee team not only strives to create the best workouts but for excellence on every level. Tank you! You are doing an awesome job!
